My Life in Pieces: A Memoir

My parents were U.S. diplomats and by the time I was sixteen I had lived in eight different countries, with extended stays in eight others. It was an amazing life. But I was the new kid in school twelve times. I had to adapt to new languages, new cultures, new school norms and pecking orders. As such, I constantly reinvented myself (new accent, new clothing style, an attempt at a new personality). I had to carve out my own place in each new universe. This memoir is about my life—my lives—in Asia, South America, Mexico, Europe, Africa, and the United States.
